Fun with Cardboard

We recently got some new stuff which came in big but fairly flat cardboard boxes. I was about to recycle all the cardboard when I thought why not let the kids play with it first.

They had fun coloring on it:We made ramps for cars:
I wrote the alphabet and played games- rolling cars on it and naming the letter it landed on or tossing stuffed animals and naming the letter. They also like tracing the letters with crayons.

Water Color Paint Face

Thanks to Ethan we only paint before Bath time!

Looking for Ducks

We have been lucky to have some nice weather days recently- Sunny but still chilly. So we went to the park and the boys wanted to look for ducks.

We found two ducks!

Here is Ethan before we left he was trying to pack a picnic lunch for us of a spaghetti squash and sweet potatoes. The boys have been disappointed because we haven't had a picnic in the park in awhile in the nice weather we have outside picnics almost everyday but its a little chilly to sit and eat.

Easy Pumpkin Gingerbread

To make an easy pumpkin gingerbread we mixed:
1 box gingerbread mix
1 cup pumpkin puree
1/4 cup egg substitute
1/4 cup water

Mix and bake according to package directions. I changed it from the original recipe which called for one egg and one cup of water and it turned out really yummy.

Erie Zoo

On Sunday the boys and I headed on a road trip with Grammy, Unky Rob and Katie to the Erie Zoo in Erie PA which is about an hour and a half drive for their annual animal art show. The boys had fun seeing the animals there are many animals there that the Buffalo Zoo doesn't have. The highlight was the Orangutans.

Ice and Homemade Funnels

Playing with ice and our homemade icebergs (toys frozen in a container filled with water) is an activity the boys really enjoy. I wanted to make some big Halloween icebergs so I froze colored water and some plastic bugs in milk jugs. In order to get the ice out I cut off the tops of the milk jugs and noticed they could be used as funnels too. Oh and the plastic dinosaurs joined in the fun as they often do!

Lunch Lady

I found these cute divided lunch trays on clearance and Mike has been making fun of them. He keeps asking me if I stole them from a school. Well I like them and have been trying to make the kids cute meals in them. (I think Mike is just jealous I didn't buy trays for us!)

Rock Collections

The boys are always picking up rocks when we go on nature hikes so we decorated some egg cartons to store their collections.

Trick or Treating

Halloween Tractor Ride

Grammy and Grampy set up a special Halloween Tractor ride for the boys. They wore their costumes and listened to a Halloween story while looking for tricks and special hidden treats. The boys had so much fun the tractor ride took a special trip through the cemetery.
