Chocolate Nests and Playground fun
Yesterday we made chocolate nests. I've been seeing them on a lot of blogs yesterday and we just made up our own but didn't really follow a recipe. We melted about a cup of chocolate chips then stirred in about a half cup fiber one cereal and enough coconut to make a nest consistency. Scoop it on to a cookie sheet and form a nest then the boys added the jelly bean eggs.
Ethan enjoyed sampling the jelly beans.
Logan was focused on putting the eggs in the nest. I tried to turn this into a counting activity by having them put 3 eggs in each nest but Logan said: "This bird had a lot of eggs and that one had less. Not all nests have three eggs." I couldn't argue with that so it turned in to a more and less lesson instead.

Then we had to burn off the sugar while the chocolate on the nests set up.

Spring Artists
We have been spending a lot of time outside and the kids get muddy so that means bath time but I figure they might as well paint before the bath too. We mixed up some pastel colors yesterday and painted some eggs. Logan was very focused on his painting.
He even cut out a octagon to paint.
Now you will see why we paint before baths.

I went to change loads of laundry and this is what happened:

Oh well hes washable!

Rainy Day Projects
The weather lately has been iffy mainly a mix of rain and some snow with a little bit of sun in the afternoon. So while we are waiting for it to warm up and in between bundling up and going outside to jump in puzzles we have been doing some fun indoor activities.
Gumdrop and Tooth pick building:
Mommy did most of the actual building but the boys had fun eating the gumdrops. Ethan put his animals in the gumdrop barns that we built.

Logan made a gum drop campfire to roast his gumdrops on.

This is why you shouldn't live in a gumdrop house! (pardon the pizza sauce face we were so excited about this and it was right after lunch I forgot to wipe their faces!)
Indoor gardening:
We have a ton of seeds started on our window sill and the boys can't wait to start planting outside. So I came up with an indoor gardening pretend play idea. I filled some bins with assorted dried beans, rocks and silk leaves and came the boys some scoops and containers.

Bubble blowing- Bowls of soapy water and straws they were really good about blowing bubbles and not drinking soapy water!
